The ice angling team of Denise and Wayne Schlegel won the annual North American Ice Fishing Circuit's Hebgen Lake Qualifier on Sunday, Jan. 14.

The Schlegels weighed in six fish for a total of 14.7 pounds, including a 2.81-pound rainbow trout, to take home the grand prize of $3,800.

Close on the heels of the duo were fellow Montanans Steve Biere and Chris Swenson, who weighed in six fish for 13.86 pounds. Their largest trout weighed 2.87 pounds.

Rounding out the top five finishers were: 3) Tom and Kelly Yarrington, Utah - 13.78; 4) Andy Schultz and Tim Marsh, Montana - 13.49; 5) Ken Huss and Keith Dosland, Montana - 13.02. Sixty-five teams competed in the event. 

Kevin Coyle and Rick Brewster, of Montana, weighed in the largest fish of the day, a 2.93-pounder, to win the big fish award.

The top 10 finishing teams receive an invitation to the NAIFC National/North American Championship to be held next December.
